A Nightmare on Elm Street Premier Screening

*stretching arms*
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn….
*rubbing eyes*
Is it spring already?

Oh hi…. Guess I’m back from hibernation. I think this would be the longest barren-blog-post period I had so far. Two months plus… Geez…

Ok, this will be a quick wake-up post before I could start updating my blog again.

Thanks alot to Ellie and Advertlets, I got the chance to re-live my childhood nightmare last night. Apart from the scary Pennywise the clown in It, Freddy Krueger is the other character that actually scared me so much that I can’t sleep at night when I was a kid.

One... Two... Freddy's coming for you....

I reached Mid Valley Megamall around 6pm, grab my super-late-lunch aka very-early-dinner and my usual dose of King William Chocolate from Boost Juice Bars (Dang! I just found out that they have banana bread promo every Tuesday there.)

The ticket collection counter was open at 8pm and after lining up in the long queue for quite sometime, I got my ticket and it’s already admission time.

Ok, this is what I think about the movie. Personal opinion from someone who had watched all 6 films of A Nightmare on Elm Street (but I can’t remember everything I’ve watched okay)

This 2010 American slasher film is a so-so attempt to remake the original A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Overall, I feel this version is predictable (except for a few scenes) as I think they ‘recycle’ most the element from the original version. So, if you had watched the earlier versions as much as I did, you might find this version… How should I say this…. Flat?!

The cast? Not bad. Both Rooney Mara (as Nancy Holbrook) and Kyle Gallner (as Quentin Smith) did a good job as lead characters. Call me bias but Jackie Earle Haley can’t live up to my expectation as the next Freddy Krueger despite his numerous credentials. To me Robert Englund is still the best person to potray that character.

Despite of the not-so-positive review from me, I love the ending scene! Truly unexpected and horrified.
Wanna know what I’m talking about? Catch it in your nearest cinema on 13th May 2010.

Come and share your nightmare...

Here is another treat for you. Check out their A Nightmare On Elm Street Malaysia Fan Page
and take part in their photography contest. Choose from any of the three themes (Welcome to your new nightmare, Never sleep again and He knows where you sleep) and who knows, you just might walk away with a DSLR camera.

First Trip To SPCA Selangor

Living up to my reputation as one of the dullest blogger around, I shall TRY to make this post as dull as possible…. *wink*

Somewhere in the middle of January 2010, I decided to make a trip to SPCA Selangor. The mission?! To find & adopt a pet?! No..no..no..no… I’m very happy with the 2+2+1 brood that I have now (my 2 cats, my family 2 cats & the resident stray cat). I was there to gave away some of my stuffs such as some of my soft toys, old gifts & souvenirs that they can sell it off during their jumble sale.

Entrance to SPCA Selangor

It’s not that difficult to find the place. Thank goodness for Google map! While SPCA Penang does accept recycleable such as papers, plastic & aluminium cans, when I contacted SPCA Selangor, they only accept animal shelter related items such as pet foods & items that they can re-sell during their sale.

Cattery for new arrivals

Upon reaching the place, we went to the office, pass the volunteer in-charge my box of stuffs and asked her whether we can visit the cattery or not. She pointed to us the area and off we go!

One of the sponsored cattery

Another cattery

For the first timer visitors to animal shelter, I would love to share some tips with you… :D
1- Wear comfortable clothes and preferably long sleeves shirt, long pants/jeans & sport shoes/sneakers. Reason being that any point of time, you may come in contact with the animals there… whether you welcome it or not. I remember once a dog tries to pee on my shoes.. Lucky managed to shoo that fella away..
2- Try to avoid any physical contact with the animals there. There is no ‘No Petting’ rule here but generally you don’t know the temperament of… say, a particular cat or dog. I have my share of getting scratches from the cats at animal shelters. *wink*
3- Don’t simply bring any pet foods and feed the animal by yourselves. These animal are feed according to the schedule and their dietary need.
4- Please confirm with the shelter if you wanna bring your cute pooch along. I know they didn’t allow feline visitors for good reasons. T__T
4- Last but not least, don’t be afraid/alarmed if whenver you pass by the dog kennel the dogs are barking furiously at you. They just wanna attract your attention, that’s all. :D

Another cattery --> OK, running out of caption..

As expected, the place is kept in order and the dogs & cats we have seen are generally in good condition. There is even a resident cat hanging out near the cattery… Outside the cage… I bet this fella is too old to go anywhere else. It greeted us with the normal leg rub and welcoming meows..

Poor kitty & doggie....

What a cute puppy!!

This mommy doggie and her cute pup is one of the new arrivals here.

Kitties that are available for adoption

I (heart) the black cat on the top right picture above and the white cat with baby blue eyes on the picture below.

Take us home... Pleaseeeee..

Personally… I strongly recommends & suggests that people out there that are looking for dog or cat companionship, visit your local animal shelter/rescuer regularly and be on a lookout. It might take a while but you never know where & when you will find the right dog/cat. Rather than spending some amount of money to buy those cat/dog from pet shops (and indirectly supporting mill breeders), you might as well put in that same amount of money (most of the time, much lesser) supporting the local animal shelter/rescuer in an exchange for a lifetime companion (certified healthy some more.. okaayy..)

Oh ya, I would love to share this cat adoption success story here. This is very creatively written as it tells a story for the cat point of view!

Let's help them!

SPCA Selangor will be having ANOTHER jumble sale (yes, I missed the one on 31st January 2010 as stated on the banner in the first picture) on this coming Sunday, 28th February 2010. Come join the event and do your bit for charity. Who knows, you might come across one of my soft toys… in mint condition.. at a bargain price.. *wink *wink*

SPCA Selangor is open daily, including weekends & public holidays (so no more excuse for not being able to visit them) from 9am to 4pm.

How To Organize Your Books

By using Billy Bookcases!

When I moved back from Penang, I’ve decided that I would get a decent bookcase for all of my books rather than bits of here & there all over the room (or house). Frankly speaking, I never know how much books that I have in my humble collection until recently which is 232 books excluding magazines etc..

Reading section

Coincidently, this year is Billy’s Bookcase 30th Anniversary and IKEA come out with a few limited edition Billy Bookcase designs. Sadly enough, I didn’t buy those designs (which is slightly priced higher than my budget) & opted for the tri-colour bookcases. So I get myself a red, blue & black Billy Bookcases and get IKEA to deliver it to my home.

Billy Bookcase Red

I use the Billy Bookcase Red as a divider between the reading section and my bed. Don’t worry, I’m not a violent sleeper so I won’t kick the back of the bookcase while I’m sleeping…. *wink*

Billy Bookcase Black

Then I use the Billy Bookcase Black as another divider between the reading section and my wardrobe. I have an Aneboda wardrobe back-to-back with the bookcase. You might asked where is the Billy Bookcase Blue right? Hehehehehe…. I’ll save that for another post.

OK, the rest of the photos are basically me prancing around the reading section…. Wahahahahahahahaha…..

Admiralty Manual Of Seamanship 1964 Volume 1

The Mammut children's stool sure is handy

I (heart) the colourful Agger rug and the big cushion

Hhhmmmm.... The book on the left or on the right?

My favourite collection: Chicken Soup For The Soul Series

The Cat Owner's Handbook: Check out the cute kitty on the cover!

Dogbert's Top Secret Management Handbook: Really useful!! *wink*

Believe it or not….. When my mom saw this, she loves it so much that she wants my help to design the family mini library… :D

Bravo to the photographer, Abd Hadi that managed to survive my oven-ish room… Hahahahahaha

What Is Your Dream?

This is one thing that set us apart from other species in this world…
That makes us… Human…

Since we were kids, we were often asked; ‘What is your dream?’ or ‘What do you want to be/want to do when you grow up?’
I’m sure kids could come up with answers such as astronauts, cowboys, actors or even a rockstar.

I Wanna Be A Rockstar!

Me.. At one point between wanted to be a teacher and a pilot, I did dream of becoming one of National Geographic esteemed photographers.
So at the age of 9, I started to use my dad’s Yashica FX3, without his permission of course… Despite of getting my ass whooped a few times, I still sneak out the camera from his cabinet in his room. I wish one day some of my pictures will be published in the globally known magazine to mesmerize and captivate human hearts.

The Beauty and The Building

As we grew older, our dreams become more realistic and turned into ambitions. We (or our parents) began to shape our path towards a future as a doctor, lawyer or even a teacher.

Path Towards The Future

I guess as parents they are trying their best to shield their offspring from the cruelty and reality of the outside world.

Sun Shade

Sooner of later, these kids will grow up and be part of the rat race… Either move along or move up and don’t let other people eat your life away.

Meal Of The Day

Whatever it is kids, just remember a few things….
Do you part in taking care of Mother Nature..

Keep Clean

Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers along the way…

Stop & Smell The Flowers

Preserve your culture and never forget your heritage..

Forgotten Heritage

Last but not the least, don’t be surprised when an angel descend from Heaven and touched your live.

Angel of Phoenix

Live long & prosper as in the end you don’t want to be the lonely old man….

Lonely Old Man

Or even disappeared and forgotten…

Disappeared & Forgotten

Author’s Note: I cooked up this post after sorting my 5years worth of digital pics and too awake after 4:30am… The main point of this post is to exhibit some of my favourite pics. Taken by me using my Lexa, Panasonic LX3… Hope you guys like them! :D

Why Women Are Dating Older Men

I’m not much of a love guru but this is what I think….

Doing some serious thinking here.. *wink*

Most women find older men (say.. 5-10years of age difference) are more mature than men their own age. Let me remind you that we, women mature earlier (and faster) than men therefore wants to be with a man who is almost at the same level of maturity as women. I don’t really think that most women would really appreciate it if their man prefers to play Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike, *insert more computer/console games* rather than spending time with them….. Unless she’s a gamer too… Hehehehehhe..

Older men will enjoy the ‘almighty’ feeling as the woman is looking up to him for guidance & gain more life experiences (don’t ask me to elaborate what type of guidance or life experiences laaa).

*random* Purple & blue looks great on me... hehehehe

Mature men are more self-confident as they know themselves better, a trait that attracts younger women. Even though they are sexually experienced (but they tend to have less sex drive), many women find lovemaking with an older man is more fulfilling to them, as they are better at listening to the woman’s needs than a man their own age tends to be. Not being controlled by their testosterone, mature men are often better in bed than younger men. They often view pleasure differently than younger men and are more concern with the woman’s pleasure as opposed to their own.

Older men are more stable emotionally, financially and most of them are established in their chosen careers than younger men. That sense of security tends to attracts younger women.

Ok… We women are suckers for chivalry (hey, admit it okay). Older men tend to have more respect for woman and they are polite & have good manners. We just loves those men that can woo our family members especially our parents. Women like men who know how to be a gentlemen, act like one and behave like one. Most women want to be with men who are responsible and can stand on their own two feet and are able to support themselves and take care of themselves.

Mummy pweaseee.... I love him.....

Here is an example…. This is a FB conversation that took place between me and a guy from my high school… Do take note that this guy is at the same age as I am… Hehehehe… Let’s call him M.

M: alamak ko rupanya…dah banyak berubah yek sekarang…makin cute le…stay mana skrg?

(Oh! It’s you. You have changed alot, getting cuter. Where are you now?)

DiEsE: takde byk berubahnye laaa… sama aje.. aku skrg ada kat bangi

(Not much change.. Still look the same.. I’m in Bangi now)

M: aduh boring betul..tanya ja member semua dok belah sana…takda ka yang duduk utara ni…hehehe…….kahwin dah ka?

(Geez.. Such a bore.. I’ve asked everyone and all of them staying at that side.. No one staying at the northern side… Married yet?)

DiEsE: aku baru aje pindah balik bangi… sblm ni duduk kat butterworth..
kawin?! takde yang mampu lagi..

(I just moved back to Bangi, before this I was staying in Butterworth. Marriage? No one is eligible yet)

M: takde yang mampu lg…hai letah harga hantaran mahal sangat kot…jgn la mahal2 sngat nanti jadi andartu terus merudum harga…heheheh

(No one is eligible yet? Ish.. You must’ve demanded a high dowry… Don’t demand too high because later you when will be an old spinster, the price will drop like hell… Hehehehe)

DiEsE: skrg mana main letak harga hantaran dah… takde hantaran pun takpe, lagi bagus.
kalau tak mampu nak tanggung bakal bini lepas kawin, baik tak payah kawin kan?!
dah andartu dah pun, takde lak turun harga.. makin naik adalaa… maklumlaa.. kadar inflasi negara pun dah naik dah..

(Well, nowadays where got dowry anymore… No dowry is even better. If a man can’t afford to support a wife after marriage, better not get married right? I’m already an old spinster, I didn’t see the price going down… Going up is more like it.. You know, since the national inflation rate has increased..)

And it’s been almost 1 month since last I heard from him…. *evil grin*

Now do u get what I mean?! Gettit?! Muahahahaha…

Now.. The next question is…

If all the younger women date older men, what would happened to the younger men?

*random* so does white and yellow too.. hehehehe

P/S: Please ignore the irrelevant pictures posted here and the bad BM to English/Manglish translation… I prefer to post up my pics rather than the ones from free stock sites and hey, my BM –> English is not that powderful kay…

I Wanna Date Older Men Too XD,
