Peter Pan The Musical Gala Premiere

It is the twelfth day before Christmas and I bet everyone is busy, busy with the holiday preparations. Then again, how do we Malaysians celebrate Christmas in our tropical climate? Perhaps a trip down to Neverland with Peter Pan and Wendy would give us a glimpse of Christmas in London (and Neverland too).

Welcome to Neverland!

On 26th Nov 2010 (Friday night), courtesy of All Malaysian Bloggers Project (AMBP) me and my sisters were able to watch the magic of Christmas in Neverland at Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre.

The usual suspects: Jess, me and my sister...

Thanks to Jessica for saving the seat for me. I know… I know.. Blurry picture but don’t blame my Lexa, blame this girl with shaky hands… -____-

According to the programme, the show was supposed to start at 8pm but we waited restlessly for about an hour for the show to start. I guess Malaysians never learn. Even though I arrived quite late, as in about 5 minutes before 8pm, people keep flooding in even after about 30 minutes I arrived. Geez, I’m staying at the Negeri Sembilan-Selangor border and at least I managed to arrive on time.

I won’t 100% blame the organizer for the delay! I even skipped the train ride so that I can run (almost) to the amphitheatre.

Opening scene in London

After the compulsory speeches made by the director Mr. Chris Colby and Mr. David Kort, the magic begins with a snowfight scene. Yes, you got that right. A snowfight in Malaysia. Too bad we the audiences aren’t supplied with some of those snowballs if not we were gladly to join in *big grin* but lucky us, it was snowing in the amphitheatre during that scene!

The stern Mr. Darling with Wendy

Oh no! Mr. Darling is such a killjoy! He made Wendy to go to bed early and leave all the fun behind…

Look! It's Peter Pan and Wendy!

But Wendy is not alone for long. Peter Pan drops by her room to find his shadow.

Oh look! Peter Pan taught Wendy to fly so that they can go to Neverland together.

Oohhhh.... Captain Hook is scheming with Mr. Smee and his crew

Captain Hook round up his crew and Mr. Smee to plot a revenge against Peter Pan.

The Lost Boys introducing themselves to Wendy

Wendy meeting The Lost Boys for the first time. Oh boy… Oh boy….

A lovey-dovey scene between Wendy and Peter Pan.

Awwww…. This is soooo sweeeeet… Even the boy who never wants to grow up know how to be romantic.. *another big grin*

*Looking at Tiger Lily's abs* I want those..... T__T

This is part of Captain Hook’s revenge-plan on Peter Pan by capturing Tiger Lily, the princess of the Tribe of Indians (Native Americans) living on the island of Neverland and Peter Pan’s friend.

Oh no! Captain Hook and Mr. Smee had captured Wendy.

Oh no! Captain Hook kidnapped Wendy too!

Peter Pan and Wendy ended the show with ‘White Christmas‘ and more snow!

It rained almost immediately after the show ends. Thank God I bring the umbrellas!

Overall, the musical is a very good attempt to show Malaysians what a good musical show all about. Despite of all the glitches such as not-so-good sound system on certain area of the arena, the heat in the amphitheatre before the show starts and the bad traffic jam while exiting Sunway Pyramid after the show, the show itself is a credit to West End production. We really enjoyed the 1 hour musical (I’d say it’s too short for me) and I saw the kids around us are having fun clapping and laughing (us adults too!). The crew really did a good job with the stage setup, the props, lighting and even the pyrotechnics. The cast is wonderful as they convincingly took us to a magical journey to Neverland and oh boy they can sing, act and dance! Not to mention fly too.. Hehehehe.. Too bad some of us Malaysians unable to appreciate such performing art by leaving the show early before the ending. I bet these people are the ones will leave during an intermission of any theatre production.

Photo with the crew, cast and the children

Anyone spotted the crocodile that scared Captain Hook in this picture?

Too bad I didn’t stay long enough to get our opportunity to take pictures with the crew and cast. Hey, I got to get back to the border kay…

Malaysian Idiot: Dude, Where’s The Sign?

I love to point out other people mistakes especially by our fellow Malaysians… So that we can learn from each other mistakes righttttt?! *big grin*

And this one is not an exception to the statement above…..

Tak Selamat Pengantin Baru Kepada Rodzi & Yana

I don’t know about you but think about this for a moment…
Which one is much more important?….
1- To ensure the guests to your wedding find the right direction to your venue or….
2- To cause an inconvenience to other 8695748965 road users…

Your answer Mr. Rodzi & Ms. Yana? No. 1 is it?
Congratulations! By choosing answer No. 1 you just make me wish both of you ‘A Very Unhappy Marriage Life’.

Lori Sampah Bandar Baru Bangi

*sila lihat gambar dibawah*

Lori Sampah

Itu dia! Lambang kemajuan Bandar Baru Bangi!

Betul!

Hahahahaha!

Peter Pan The Musical: Behind-The-Scene

Last, last Saturday (20th Nov), a group of All Malaysian Bloggers Project (AMBP) was given an opportunity to meet the cast and crew of Peter Pan The Musical at Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre. We were greeted by Tracie from AMBP and Fiona from Sunway Lagoon at the main entrance and off we go!

This West End production is directed by Chris Colby and consists of international cast that hails from Europe, South America, Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. All four main characters (Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and Smee) are exclusively flown in from London and together with the rest of the team vigorously rehearsing since their arrival in last month.

We arrived at the amphitheatre and welcomed by Mr. Aaron Soo, CEO of Sunway Lagoon and Mr. David Kort the esteemed choreographer for Peter Pan The Musical.

Peter Pan, Wendy and Nana the dog

Both of the gave us details on the show, a bit Q&A about the production and as a suprise they treated us with a snippet from the musical itself. The adorable Mark Iles plays as the energetic Peter Pan and the gorgeous LJ Neilson plays as the sweet Wendy.

Captain Hook and Smee

Rawwwrrrrr!!! Michael Morgan as the evil Captain Hook and Peter Jamieson as the funny Smee. It is the tradition that whoever plays Captain Hook will play as Mr. Darling aka Wendy’s father as well. This will be interesting as an actor have to portray two different character in one play.

Q&A session with the cast and David Kort

Rehearsals are from 10am till 6pm and it gets longer about 1 week before the first show which referred as ‘technical week’. Mr. David Kort is not only the choreographer but he also the in-house tailor. Talk about multi-talented…

Mr. Aaron Soo, CEO of Sunway Lagoon with the cast

Why this particular Peter Pan The Musical is different from the one that have been showcased here in Malaysia about 5 years ago? One of the hallmark of this Peter Pan The Musical it showcases both international and local artistic talents. In the spirit of Christmas, there are up to 400seats on every show available for local homes and associations for the underprivileged. So folks, grab this opportunity to do some charity and let them experience the magic of Neverland.

Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and Smee in Neverland

All the four main casts are very friendly and effortlessly posing for the photographers.

Peter Pan, unknown girl, Wendy

They are so friendly that I just have to break my shy-camerawoman routine and took a picture with them.

Welcome to Neverland

The stage set is created by our very own local team from Sunway Lagoon with all the lights and stage props.

This side of the table

After we have our fill of Q&As and taking pictures with the crew and casts, it’s time to fill our tummy! The organizer is kind enough to provide us with some refreshments at Lighthouse.

That side of the table

What they called refreshments, I call it a meal. I was bloated from all the snacks, char koay teow and fried rice with free flow of cold fruit juice to quench our thirst in the hot day. Even the casts decided to join us!

See you at the Gala Premiere!

The Gala Premiere starts on 26th Nov 2010 and the musical will be staged until 2nd January 2011. For more information or ticketing details, call +603-5639 0000 or visit www.sunwaylagoon.com. Hurry, go grab your tickets now and enjoy the experience of Neverland.

How to Core an Apple

Hello folks!
Today I’m gonna show you how to core an apple the easiest way.

First: You need an apple corer or some said apple cutter as below.

Apple Cutter

Second: You need an apple of course! Make sure you clean the apple properly and prop it in stem up position.

Green Apple

Third: Place the apple corer on top of the apple (sharp edge sides downwards) and push it downwards through the apple.

Ta-Da!

Voila! Now you have 6 pieces of nicely cut apple slices. *grin*
I bought this particular apple corer almost RM20 at Cold Storage. A few months later I’ve found out that I can buy the similar thing at Daiso for only RM5. T__________T huhuhuhuhuhuhuhu

P/S: Don’t throw away the apple’s core! You can recycle it as compost for your garden or potted plants. :-)

Klinik Pergigian Dr. Rashid dan rakan-rakan

*waves*
*cough* *cough*

*sings*
‘Aduh kak aduh sakitnya gigiku’.

‘Darilah dulu kakak dah bilang.. Harilah hari gosoklah gigi.. Pagi dan petang.. Siang dan malam.. Gosok gigi.. Gosok gigi.. Gosok gigi.. Gosok gigi……’

Jangan Ketawa: Lagu Gosok Gigi

For those 1980s babies, I bet most of you remember the ‘Jangan Ketawa’ show. I was Youtubing the other day when I saw this video. Bring back lotsa childhood memories!

Anyway, today I would like to introduce to you my most trusted dental clinic.

Klinik Pergigian Dr. Rashid dan rakan-rakan located at the heart of Kajang, just a stone throw away from Plaza Metro Kajang.

You need to walk up the stairs to the first floor and you will see this modern, see-through glass entrance door.

And you will be greeted by a friendly staff here at the counter. Ok.. Ok.. The staff already left the counter when I took this picture..

*pointing to the hanging-picture on the right* Ewwwwwww…. Types of teeth stain….. Eeewwwww….

Too bad this dental clinic only operates during the day but good news it open on Saturdays and public holidays.

These pictures were taken during my first visit back to this clinic after staying in Penang for awhile and I was pleasantly suprised with the improvements. The old wooden door was replaced with the modern glass door, the old television was replaced by a new LCD TV, the old wooden bench for patients was replaced with the new cushion chairs and last but not least the boxy-glass-covered counter was replaced by this new open counter. Still, their level of service and dedication as at the same par when I first visit them in 1989-1990. I still remember that whenever me or any of my siblings got their baby tooth extracted here, Dr. Rashid himself will attend to us and gave us candies if we didn’t cry or make a fuss during the extraction process. Very cheeky I tell you! *big grin*

The Worst Halloween Costume… Ever…

I was sorting my 44GB worth of pictures on All Hallow’s Eve when I stumbled upon this picture….

*horror* *screams*

Willyyilly thought I was wearing some sort of aspiring superhero costume which now that I see this picture again made me think… Why Not?! >___< I let my creativity ran wild when I came up with this costume a few years ago for a company dinner... Can't really remember what's the dinner theme.. That night I dressed up as an Italy football team supporter that got lost in Malaysia.. Quite a mouthful name for a costume eh?!

P/S: I still have all the items for this costume... Next Halloween perhaps? *big grin*
