De-Lee-cious Murtabak
I love enjoys good food… Therefore, I have tonnes of food-related pictures and from time to time I’ll post some of them here.
Murtabak (Does anyone know’s what the English name for ‘murtabak’?) is one of my favourite food. As always, whenever I found any food provider aka restaurants or stalls that suits my picky taste in culinary delights, they’ll be damn lucky as I’ll be one of their loyal customer.
When I 1st arrive in Penang, I couldn’t find the right place to kill satisfied my craving for murtabak until about 3 years ago, BaYnN introduce me to this stall. The first time I saw their price tag I went, ‘WTH?!? RM1.40 (or is it RM1.50) for a piece of murtabak?!? Pakcik Zaki’s murtabak in Bangi is only RM1.20 per piece (at that time, about 3 years ago). Expensive laaa!!’ I complained to him. He chuckled back at me and said ‘You see and taste it first’.
You betcha, I never regretted buying that 1st piece of murtabak and I never look back… hehehehe
Lee’s murtabak is smaller in size if compared to the murtabak I used to have in Bangi but they cleverly compensate it in terms of thickness. Very thick I tell you! *snickers*
The murtabak comes with 2 types, either chicken or beef filling. On rare occasion, I could ask them to make a chicken-mixed-with-beef murtabak.. hehehehe.. This special order is only privillaged for long-time customers such as me…. hihihii..
During fasting months, you can see a group of people willing to wait for more than 15 minutes for the chef to make fresh batches of murtabak and these people didn’t buy 1 or 2 pieces. Let say in a group of 10 people waiting for the murtabak, I’ll be the only one buying 1 piece. The rest will buy around 2 – 3 pieces each person (Last year fasting month, it was 4 to 5 pieces for each person). If you arrive there after 6pm, chances are the murtabaks are sold-out!
The taste?!? I can’t really describe it… Seriously… The meat is tender enough, the gravy, the egg… *drool* You guys have to taste it to believe it.. hahhahaha..
So.. Whenever any of you drop by Penang, lemme know and we go eat murtabak together! Oh ya… So far, they only available on pasar malam (night market) on Wednesdays and Fridays.
De-LEE-cious!!
Oh crap, today is Tuesday… =______=
