‘Balik Kampung’ With DiEsE

So many things to post up….. So little time…. *sigh*

As most of you guys realized, a few days ago BaYnN.com was down and it was due to DNS change. Yeay!! Finally BaYnN.com changed its hosting server! But all that will be a story for another day.

Today, let see how DiEsE ‘Balik Kampung’ during the last Raya holidays.

Lucky me, I manage to get a total of 9 days off (inclusive Saturdays and Sundays) for Raya holidays and it’s enough for me to enjoy my Raya celebration this year (my best record for Raya leave was 14 days.. hehheh)

Normally, I would purchase my ‘balik kampung’ tickets during the fasting month but this year, seeing the trend that more and more people travel with Transnasional buses recently since the fuel hike (as it’s still have the cheapest bus fare), I purchased my ‘balik kampung’ tickets 5 weeks before Raya. That’s right folks, you read it right. 5 freaking weeks. Even that, I didn’t manage to secure the best seat @ the best trip.

So, here was my ‘balik kampung’ itinerary:-
Friday, 26th Sept: Butterworth –> KL via KTM Ekspres Langkawi @ 9pm. Ticket priced @ RM 38 for single adult, 2nd class.
Sunday, 5th Oct: KL –> Butterworth via Transnasional @ 9am (damn early..no good seat @ other trips on the same day…. *sigh*). Ticket priced @ RM 31.30 for economy class, single seat.

Whenever I got the chance (and the time) I would love to travel using trains especially KTM’s 2nd class beds because I can travel with heavy luggage and be able to sleep at the same time… hehehhe

The last time I took the train (about 2 years ago) their departure time is around 10-11pm. I have no idea why they re-schedule it to 9pm this year (it’s freaking early). It means the arrival time would be earlier too (ETA 5.20am… freaking early too.. *sigh*)

Upon arrival at the Butterworth train station, I saw a huge crowd of people waiting for the train. It was so crowded that all the seats at the waiting area are occupied and I was forced to wait in a corner… =____=

Luckily, there is a mini exhibition on train/rail-road related antiques such as antique lights, bells and books at the same corner and I manage to occupy my time there (and my camera with pictures).

See?? My heavy-duty luggage.. lol

As always, public transportation never fails to be late. In this case, derailed (pardon the pun) from their schedule. I’ve waited for about 30minutes before the train finally departs from the station. We actually waited for the train to connect its coaches and switched on the electricity… *sigh*

Choo..choo… the train is here

My bed was a top bunk and the coach is next to the cafeteria coach. The bed is good enough with clean bed sheets and pillowcase.

Nooo.... I didn't go to Hatyai kay... not yet.. hehehe

As I look around, I noticed that KTM’s places all female-lone-travelers (like me) on the top bunk. I wonder why… Hhhmmm….

Whenever traveling via KTM trains, it is a good idea to bring your own foods and drinks as the stuffs in their cafeteria is not exactly cheap.

KTM’s staff will make their rounds to check for tickets a few minutes after departure so please don’t doze off until your tickets had been checked. You don’t want anyone to disturb your hot and saucy dream with *ahem* Brad Pitt by ‘Ticket please’ from some uncle do you?

Another rule, never use their toilets whenever the train is stopping at any station (you will know what I mean when you see the toilet…. lol)

Train trips from Butterworth to KL would normally take about 8hours up to 10hours (that’s why I preferred 2nd class beds). Imagine…. Sitting in a moving train for 8hours… @_@

DiEsE wishes you good night! See you in KL!

After about 9hours of traveling, I finally arrived in KL Sentral and my Raya holiday awaits me… Wooohoooo… Rendang, ketupat and lemang, here I come!!

Selamat Hari Raya

From BaYnN and DiEsE

P/S: Don’t ask for ‘duit raya’ kay…lol… I’m broke already laaa… *sigh*
